I don’t know about you, but the tragedies that happened recently in Connecticut have impacted the way I think about this world in which we live. This world has become such a dark place that children are not safe to attend school. People are killing each other, babies are dying each day due to abortion, families are being ripped apart by divorce, and the list goes on and on. If you think too much about it, it will make most anyone depressed.

When I turned the television on the other day and saw what had taken place at the elementary school in Newtown Connecticut I was devastated. I kept putting myself in the shoes of those parents who had lost their children at the hands of this murderer. I cannot imagine the horror they must have felt, each one of them as the school called to tell them of the massacre. How can anyone have done this, how could our world gotten so out of hand. Many people want to turn to God to blame Him for allowing it to happen. How can anyone blame God when God had been taken out of schools completely these days?

It seems as if the world is getting worse. I am praying daily for these parents who lost their children and feel deep sorrow for them especially because Christmas is only a few short days away. I am sure many families already had gifts wrapped for their children under the tree not knowing that their child would never make it to Christmas morning to unwrap them.

As we all enjoy our Christmas this year, let’s take a few moments to remember those families who lost their babies by saying a prayer for them.

What kind of messages are celebrities sending our teenagers and tweens? So obviously Lindsey Lohan is not getting the role model of the year award, but think about the messages that our future generations are being sent. Is it any wonder that kids are dating at an earlier age, when TV shows portray middle school romances? And how about drug use? Every time you turn the TV on there is another celebrity mug shot for some kind of drug possession or use charge.

My heart breaks when I see teenage girls idolizing TV celebrities who are ‘having babies’ on these TV shows, and it looks so glamorous to them. They have no idea how difficult it is to care for children. I look at celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and while I am all for adopting I think it send the wrong message when you have five kids that are frequently passed off on nannies. It shows teenage girls that they can get what all teenage girls want (attention) by getting pregnant and having a baby.

Boys are no better. They are seeing celebrity after celebrity on the news for some indiscretion, and they think that is how real men act. Never taking responsibility for their actions and being treated like they were on vacation, our boys never learn how to be men. The point is, if your career has bolstered you into fame, then use that fame productively. Be a good influence. Be a good influence even if you are not a famous celebrity, because there is always another generation at your heels watching what you do. Just be aware, and think about the kids who look up to you before you go following in the wrong footsteps.

When I was a little kid, I looked forward to summer because I could sleep late, play video games all day, and then enjoy neighborhood barbecues nearly every night. Then when I reached my teenage years, summer became the season for enterprising. I washed cars, mowed lawns, baby-sat the neighbors’ kids, and even walked neighborhood dogs to make extra cash that I could use during the school year. I knew if I wanted to date, I would need a car or else I risked looking like a total loser when my parents drove me over and chaperoned our entire evening.

On the year I turned 15, I knew I wanted to find a “real” job for the summer. Instead of doing errands for the neighbors and picking up $20 here and there, I wanted some consistent, backbreaking work to help me top off my life savings so I could get a car by my 16th birthday. I could practically feel the keys in my hand when I saw the “Help Wanted” sign hanging by the elevated boardwalk at the beach. Working at the pier sounded like a dream come true!

I immediately ducked inside and asked for an application. Mr. Murphy, who owned the place, turned out to be an old friend of my grandpa. When he saw my name and figured out who I was, he crumpled my application and tossed it over his shoulder. I felt my stomach sink and wondered if Grandpa had some old gambling debts or something to make this guy so mad. Then he started grinning from ear-to-ear and said, “You’re hired, kid!” Apparently, anyone related to my grandpa was bound to be a hard worker. So I went home and proudly announced to my parents that I would start my first full-time job the next morning.

Working at the pier turned out to be so much fun! I learned a lot about dock building from listening to Mr. Murphy talk about his side jobs building boat docks all over the coast. By the time July arrived, I had mastered selling snow cones and fishing licenses and was ready to move on to more responsibility. So Mr. Murphy worked on another custom boat dock, he left me in charge of running the pier for the rest of the summer.

Over the next month, I worked hard to make sure everything went perfectly at the pier. I sweet talked tourists, sold season passes to the pier, and even organized a local fishing tournament that drew in thousands. When things were slow on rainy days, I even worked to design a new dock accessory that I thought Mr. Murphy would appreciate. I built a beautiful cedar bench that doubled as a storage locker to house Mr. Murphy’s fishing tackle when he was out working on another dock.

When he returned at the beginning of August, he was stunned by all the changes. He loved the cedar bench I had built and decided to have me build one for every custom boat dock he installed. I was shocked when he offered to pay me a hefty fee for my carpentry work. Then when he took a look at the books and saw all the extra revenue we made during my fishing tournament, he kissed me square on the cheek. He wrote me a check that was more than enough to buy the car I wanted and begged me to stay on through the fall and work after school and weekends.

Surprisingly, my memories of that first summer job have nothing to do with getting money for my first car. Instead, I remember that as the summer I fell in love with the Atlantica Pier. You might be surprised to know that I still work there today. When Mr. Murphy died, he left the business to me. By that time, I had been managing it for about 10 years. When I started working here on that first summer, I discovered my purpose and I have never looked back.

Through the years art has become a subjective term. From speaking about a musical “artist” to Picasso, the term has really taken on a life of its own. It seems nowadays that someone can throw mud on a canvas, call it art and sell it for thousands of dollars. I cannot accurately footnote this belief but I would assume that artist such as Van Gogh or Picasso would moan in disdain over the plundering of this great form of expression.

To complicate matters art can be a myriad of things. Depending on your particular taste art can be a beautiful building, a dazzling car, a new yard decoration or a high dollar canvas oil painting. Another addition to the art world is photography. For nearly 250 years people have sought to capture the moment at just the right angle. During this span technology has continually progressed to the point that our cameras are now considered High Definition machines. The picture quality is spectacular and the capabilities of these devices have vastly surpassed their brothers and sisters of yesteryear.

So the question is, “Is photography art?” the answer must be neither yes nor no. The very question itself delineates a need to cross the artistic boundary. You see, art is not art because I call it art. Art becomes art when someone feels that it expresses something they have not been able to adequately express. Art is art when someone else sees it as art. Therefor art can be mud on a canvas or a breath-taking picture snapped at just the right moment. Regardless of your taste or preferences art will always be subjective and it will always be the source of much discussion.

Non-smokers seldom understand smokers. They don’t understand why anyone would possibly want to be involved in such a smelly habit that leads to so many health complications. The one thing that really puzzles nonsmokers is the group of people who are able to successfully stop smoking and then inexplicably start back up again.

The thing that non-smokers will never understand is that there is a great deal more to being a smoker than simply swallowing one mouthful of smoke after another. Smoking is an experience. It is an event. Being a smoker means that you always have something you can be doing. You can either be huffing on a cigarette, lighting one, or even playing with a lighter. There is something soothing about the act of bringing the cigarette to your mouth, inhaling the smoke, and then exhaling. The rhythm of the event gives you time to think. Best of all, the nicotine found in cigarettes is a wonderful way to help the mind deal with day to day stresses.

In the past when someone tried to quit smoking they had to give up the entire experience. But now, thanks to technology that allowed for the development of electronic cigarettes, a person can wean themselves from tobacco smoke and not have to give up the sensation of smoking. This is all because somebody had the idea of an e-cigarette.

If you have never heard of an e-cig before you are probably wondering exactly what is an e-cigarette? It is a type of cigarette that is very small and packed full of all sorts of electronic equipment that gives the person using the cigarette the sensation that they are smoking a real cigarette. In addition to looking and feeling like a real cigarette, the vapor that the cigarette releases tastes and feels just like real smoke.

Another advantage to the e-cigs is the cost. They are considerably cheaper than the real thing. The Green Smoke electronic cigarette starter kit comes with everything a person needs to get started using these rechargeable cigarettes right away. Unless the smoker needs additional supplies, such as more cigarettes, the only thing they should have to worry about is purchasing the nicotine atomizers that go inside the e-cig. The price of these atomizers is less than $15 a box for most e-cig brands and each box has five atomizers, which adds up to ten packs of cigarettes worth of nicotine. If you don’t end up needing additional supplies there are several discounted starter kits where you can pick up spare chargers and extra e-cigs.

Thank you for taking time to read my review of e-cigs. If you are looking for more information on specific brands, my advice would be to check out some of the electronic cigarette reviews that I found online. Here are some links for anyone that is interested.

If you are looking for the best electronic cigarette brands, check out this V2 Cigs review and also this Premium electronic cigarette review. These two brands always seem to receive high praise from most smokers.

I also came across a few really good Smoke Tip reviews and also a few eSmoke reviews too that made me want to try both of these brands.

If you are a smoker and you enjoy spending your free time smoking, you’d really be wise to check out more info on e-cigs to see if this alternative is the right answer for you too!

After last week’s mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona, many Americans are left examining their priorities. The nation just finished the fast paced holiday season spending billions of dollars on gifts for friends and family members. Now those same citizens crowd around the television and watch in horror as the news unfolds of more tragedy and more loss at the hands of a deranged gunman.

So what does a nation do on the edge of loss? We find ways to continue with life and hold the most important things a little closer. Instead of going shopping or out to a restaurant, we stay home with those we love and eat homemade soup and play City Bingo on the internet. We start to realize that making memories is what really matters in this world.

Internet sites like VirginBingo have been full of people talking about the Tucson tragedy in the chat features. It seems like the whole world is watching as more of the story unfolds and the victims’ families share more about their lives. Perhaps that is part of why Paddy Power Bingo and other online game sites are so popular. They provide a way for people to come together and play a simple childhood game even when the world is struggling under the heavy load of tragedy.

If you want to take advantage of a free bingo bonus, you can join in with others and discuss the recent shooting in Tucson as well as other current events. By playing on the internet, you can have a quick link to the most recent developments in news stories and you can hear the opinions of many people. There are numerous support groups online that you can participate in, but sometimes the best conversations happen while playing a simple game like bingo.

Log in and play free bingo no deposit required to talk with others about the Tucson tragedy. There are thousands of people already logging in and the chats are trending towards Tucson and other major events in world news. You can stay on top of the current affairs and enjoy a game of bingo at the same time.

Even though caring for and maintaining a hot tub is not nearly as complicated or expensive as taking care of a swimming pool, it is still something that needs to be considered before purchasing a hot tub. Not only do you need to consider the amount of work maintaining hot tubs requires, but you are also going to have to consider the cost of doing so. Taking care of your hot tub is a lot more complicated than maintaining bathtubs.

The first step in caring for your new Jacuzzi bathtubs is making sure that the tub is covered at all times. The cover serves two purposes. The first purpose is to keep debris from falling into the hot tub. Any debris that gets into the tub can get caught in the hot tub’s jets and clog the filtration system. The second reason for keeping your hot tub covered when you are not using it is safety. The last thing you want is for a pet, small child, or squirrel to fall into your hot tub. The best covers are the ones that can be locked into place.

Another part of caring for a hot tub is making sure that you keep the water clean. This requires the use of the same type of chemicals that you would use to clean a swimming pool. The chemicals help maintain the proper PH balance and also keep the water sanitary. The cleaning products can be purchased anywhere that sells pool supplies or where you can buy whirlpool tubs online.

Simply running a hot tub can be pricy. To keep the cost down you need to make sure you purchase the most energy efficient model you can find. Make sure that all of the heating elements are also energy efficient. Don’t forget that two person bathtubs are considerably cheaper to both purchase and maintain than hot tubs that are designed for more people.

If you have considered all of the different expenses involved in owning a hot tub and find that it simply isn’t in your budget, you might want to take a look at whirlpool bathtubs. The whirlpool tubs can be just as relaxing as hot tubs and are also cheaper to maintain. No matter what price range you fit into, there is a hot tub option that will work for you. Do some research and order your tub today!

Recently, the news has been full of stories of young celebrities getting into trouble with the law. Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan and Khole Kardashian have all faced court and jail time as the result of their reckless behavior. From drug possession to driving under the influence, these celebrities seem to be prone to disaster.

Unfortunately, the judicial system seems to be slack when it comes to locking up these princesses and other celebrities. Where ordinary citizens would serve long grueling sentences for such crimes, these stars receive preferential treatments. Prisons are suddenly “overcrowded” and unable to house another prisoner. Has anyone ever heard of putting these girls in another prison?

It seems like celebrities are above the law or at least exempt from serving their full sentences in prison. While judges could make an example of the stars to prevent their fans from making the same mistakes, they instead choose to cut them slack so they stay popular among the public. Politics and celebrity status are apparently the most important factor in how our society handles issues like drunk driving or drug possession.

Many people have been upset by the way these news stories have played out. Someone is going to have to hold these stars accountable for their actions. In the end, it is only hurting the celebrities as we have seen many end up dead after overdoses or accidents related to substance abuse. As a society, we need to stand up and demand justice even when our favorite celebrities are the ones who have made the poor decisions.

A couple from Minnesota have recently launched a website called “Birth or Not” where they are letting people around the world make the decision on whether or not they will choose life for their unborn child. The couple is currently well into the second trimester and the baby is not far from being viable if born. They insist that they are unsure if they are ready to become parents. So they created a public poll where you can vote on whether they will have an abortion or carry the baby to term and parent him/her.

On their blog, they post ultrasound pictures and updates from visits to the obstetrician. People are all riled up about the fact that a baby’s fate is being decided by an internet poll. You have to wonder what will happen if the child is born. This little one will always be the “Birth or Not” kid. How will it make the child feel when they are old enough to understand the implications of all of this?

Perhaps these parents would be better off to have a third choice in their poll. Maybe they should let people vote for adoption. If a family is irresponsible enough to pull a publicity stunt like this with a pregnancy in the middle of it, then they are certainly not ready to be parents. Still, this child deserves a chance to live according to many supporters. It seems the perfect solution would be for the baby to be adopted by a family who is longing for the opportunity to parent any child, even one whose fate is decided by a public poll.
